New trends in law——Professional law in the field of medical and biotechnology

【Technology Law】

Biomedical science and technology, information technology, AI, big data and other emerging technologies, rapid development trend has emerged in the 21st century. These technologies have not only changed the way of life of modern people, but also have a significant impact on human society. The purpose of the master’s degree in Master Program for Technology Law is to cultivate scientific and technological legal talents with professional breadth, such as biomedical law and intellectual property rights, through interdisciplinary and pragmatic legal training, combined with the school’s biomedical resources and research energy. The purpose is to deal with emerging technologies and legal affairs.

【Breadth of technology law】

The characteristics of science and technology law courses are mainly divided into three sections, namely basic law, technology law and college topics. To train students to have the legal practical ability to deal with medical disputes, legal affairs of biomedical companies, intellectual property rights and other topics. Basic law courses mainly provide students with non-legal backgrounds to study in order to build basic legal professional knowledge and abilities.

The technology law courses include three main courses: biomedical law, intellectual property rights and information technology law.

The college’s topics allow students to expand their studies in the field of artificial intelligence and business management in addition to science and technology and law.

【Cultivation of legal talents】

Expand career orientation

Be able to apply for exams for lawyers, judges, prosecutors, patent attorneys, etc., and engage in related work.

Academic and practical exchange

In order to promote social education and innovative courses in medical care act and biomedical intellectual property related fields, continue to host and co-organize seminars and symposiums on related topics. And assisted the Taiwan Bar Association and Promotion Center in organizing the “Medical Course Training Program-Medical Controversy and Case Studies”.

CURRICULUM

【Course Planning】

  1. Students in this course should take at least 33 credits of passing courses, including 13 compulsory credits (including master’s thesis credits) and 20 elective credits, but excluding basic law courses.
  2. Students in this course need to have 10 credits for elective courses offered in this course.
  3. Students of this course who graduated from non-law-related majors must complete 18 credits of basic law courses (not counted as graduation credits) of the “Technology Law Credits Course” before the thesis degree examination.
  4. Required subject:【Intellectual property rights and Intellectual property rights and biomedical industries】A total of 4 credits.
  5. School-level compulsory: Research ethics 0 credits.
  6. Core Competencies:
  7. English ability: Must meet the off-campus English test and appraisal standards specified in the “Implementation Measures for the Chinese Medical University Students’ English Proficiency Appraisal” or complete the supporting measures stipulated by the school.
  8. Teaching training: Master students must complete at least one semester of teaching training. Only those who have a full-time job or have teaching experience may submit relevant certificates to the course for recognition; those who have passed the review will be exempted.

【Core Competencies】

  1. English ability: Must meet the off-campus English test and appraisal standards specified in the “Implementation Measures for the Chinese Medical University Students’ English Proficiency Appraisal” or complete the supporting measures stipulated by the school.
